Announcements

The PAD-US Partnership is suspending its current work as of May 1, 2010 and will revisit its organizational options in the fall of 2010. Independent work on inventories of protected areas in the U.S. will proceed in the meantime (learn more). All organizations involved in the Partnership continue to support the vision outlined in A Map for the Future, and are making efforts to secure the resources needed to accomplish this. ProtectedLands.net is a resource for information on protected lands GIS inventories in the United States.

The PAD-US section of the website describes the land inventory database and efforts to improve how we track U.S. lands set aside for conservation, open space, recreation and other natural resource uses.
The Data Portal section of the web site contains a wide range of information on protected land inventories maintained by indivdual states, federal agencies and national non-profits. You are invited to help improve this information by directly contributing information about available protected areas data.
The PAD-US Partnership section of the web site describes the 2008-2010 design project to create a recommendation for a national inventory of protected areas.
